  11. Hard Disk- root directory - when you click on the icon that represents your hard disk drive and a window opens up you are now at the root directory level of your hard drive.  The window you have opened is "on the desktop".  You are also "in/at" the Finder.  Keep your root directory tidy and as small as possible.  I have about 13 folders at my root directory level.  Twenty would not be too many.
